Aircraft Options
In many instances, patients can be transported from one facility to another by ground ambulance, or on commercial airlines or Amtrak trains with a medical escort. But sometimes circumstances require the use of a fully-equipped air ambulance. When that’s the case, the Flight Coordinators at U.S. Air Ambulance will work with you to determine the most appropriate aircraft for the transport, at the most reasonable cost.
- One popular option is a Gulfstream jet. Their flight range is between 3,600 and 4,100 miles at a maximum cruise speed of 560 miles per hour. Gulfstreams are large aircraft that can accommodate up to 15 passengers.
- Most of our customers choose a Learjet that has a range of 1,500 to 3,000 miles at speeds of 533 miles per hour. They can accommodate three or four passengers.
- Turboprop planes such as King Airs have a range of 1,250 miles at 270 miles per hour. They accommodate up to four passengers.
- Cessnas are twin-engine planes that are used for shorter-distance trips. They can fly up to 850 miles at 240 miles per hour, and can accommodate three passengers.
When your best – or only – option for moving a patient is in a fully medically-equipped and staffed aircraft, look to U.S. Air Ambulance for exemplary quality, safety, service and value
